National Youth Council of Moldova (CNTM)

 

The National Youth Council in Moldova (CNTM) was registered on February 18th 1999.

CNTM is the representation forum of the youth associative structures from Moldova and promotes the interests of associated and non-associated young people; develops youth associative structures through the implementation of program activities, training, information, lobby and consulting services.

 

 

CNTM Structure:

1.     General Assembly:  at the moment CNTM has 35 youth organization, out of which 2 are regional youth councils.

2.     Executive Board is the governing body of CNTM, which is elected by the General Assembly for a period of 2 years. It consists of President, Vice-president and 5 Board Members.

3.     Censors Commission – the elected body at the General Assembly, responsible for monitoring of the financial activity of the organization, consisting of 3 members.

4.     Secretariat – employed by the Executive Board and responsible for the implementation of the programs, actions and activities. At the moment it consists of 5 persons.

 

 

CNTM directions of activity:

  1. Organisational Capacities Development

-          Information and training for Member Organisations

-          Assistance and consulting for Member Organisations

 

  1. Youth policy

-          Participation in the elaboration of the youth policy legal framework – consulting the responsible state institutions.

-          Youth policy monitoring

 

  1. Participation and mobility

-          Voter Education Campaign, aimed to increase Moldovan citizens’ understanding of electoral processes and to foster greater participation in Parliamentary elections in 2009.

-          Fostering international cooperation of the youth organisations.

 

  1. Social and health issues

-          Promotion of Antidiscrimination Policy in Moldova: lobbying the adoption of the Law on prevention and combating the discrimination; raising public awareness on discrimination and intolerance.

-          Lobbying the adoption of the Law on Volunteering

-          Organizing annual Festival of Volunteers

-          Organizing annual National Volunteering Week

-          Network of Multipliers in Human Rights Education. The members of the Network organize trainings, informational and promotional campaigns at the local and national level in order to promote human rights education with and for young people.
